delay menu disappearance

Thread view:
les_ander@yahoo.com - 02 Jan 2005 19:33 GMT
Hi,
I find that the JMenuItem dissapears very quickly.
I want to be able to delay the dissapearance by couple of seconds
so that it gives me enough time for me to recover from my mistake.
Alternatively, i think what would be better is if someone can show me
how to implement a JMenuItem so that it stays open if I click on it
even if it does not have a mouse focus; it dissapears if I click on it
twice.
thanks in advance for your help.

It's not an answer to your question, but it is an alternate solution.

If you have dangerous menu items, you should consider displaying an "Are
you sure you want to do operation <x>?" dialog before performing the
requested action.

No its not a "dangerous" menu item. I wrote a file browser
using a menus. However I find that my mouse movement is too inaccurate
so that the menus close completely to the root.
for example. THe root menu is "/home" and then
sub menus are all the users , say "joe" and then submenu of "joe" is
all the files in his home directory etc. I would like to click on "joe"
and want the submenu to say open till I click on "joe" again to close
it.
please let me know if I am not clear.
thanks for your reply
