Urgent: Applet display Object in XP

Thread view:
Sylvian - 20 Aug 2004 11:41 GMT
In my applet I have a JComboBox. This combo box is filled in with
strings.
My applet works fine under Windows NT, 2000 but under IE from XP and
Windows 2003 the selected item from my combo box shows the Object
address. ex: java.Lang.String:@52FDE.

Why this is happenig under XP and 2003? Are the Microsoft guys doing
"anything" to make the applet not working right or am I making a
mistake?

Urgent: search Google and check the available
resources before you post your question!

That search arbitrarily limits the span to 'this month'
2 of the firsy four hits probably deal with the exact
situation you face.

Thank you for your hints. Before I post the question on a forum, I've
searched but I did't find an answer that fit to my problem. :(
My applet is compiled in 1.2 and the test were made on computers that
have installed Java 1.4.2_05 Plug-in. So, i can see the applet, looks
ok, but as I said the JComboBox displays the Object address insteed of
the value under XP and 2003. After an item selection in combo box is
made, then everything's fine.

Looks that it will take some time, till I'll find the answer. :)

Have you tried recompiling with the 1.4.2_05 compiler?

Yes, I tried. Same result. Same problem on XP and 2003. :(

Since you reacted so well to my rather terse (OK ..rude)
post I'll go a little extra effort for you.

I think the basic probelm is that IE is *configured*
to use Java 1.1.

I can check my suspicions a lot quicker if you aupply
an URL to the web page.  How about it?  Where's the applet?

IE 6.0? If is so, than the all applet could not be visible, right?

Right now is on the testing phase. I hope this is the only bug. :))
It's not *live* yet. When it will be *live* only the registred users
can see it.
