Displaying Japanese character in applet problem

Thread view:
California Paladin - 27 Jul 2004 19:36 GMT
I am using the Eclipse IDE.  When I run my program, the Japanese
characters disply fine, but when I run the applet inside Internet
Explorer 6, I just get garbage characters.  I have changed the
encoding to Japanese(JIS) and Japanese(EUC).  However, neither seem to
make any difference.  I do have the japanese language correctly
installed in the base OS and in IE6.  Has anyone else had this type of
problem?  Any assistance is appreciated.

No it reads 1.4_2.  Thanks.  I did find a solution after a few more
hours of pounding my head against the wall.

Then, what was the problem and its solution?

In Windows Regional and Language Settings, I have to set Regional
Options - Standards and formats = Japanese, Location = Japan, then set
Advanced - Language for non-Unicode programs to Japanese and then
reboot my computer.  This finally allowed me to see the correct
characters.  Sorry for the delay.
