icon library

Thread view:
Chris Gokey - 02 Jan 2004 08:06 GMT
I've developing a GUI application in Java and would like to
attach some standard icons next to my buttons (File, Save,
Open, Cancel, Delete, etc.)   Where is the best place to
go on the web for a decent icon library?

Thanks,
Chris

This group's FAQ lists some resources. Get your a.s up and read it.

The FAQ was very helpful.  These two links provide some
good information:

----------
Sun's well hidden set of Icons for Swing' Metal LnF:

 http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/techDocs/hi/repository/

More icons:

 http://sourceforge.net/projects/icon-collection/
(the link to javalobby.org is broken)
------------

Sorry for such a simple question. I did a google search
and came up with information overload, lots of icons for
horses, animals, space ships, etc...  I just wanted some
cream of the crop choices for standard icon sets for
graphic user interface developing.  Seems like there would
be some "know how" on this group regarding this subject.

You're welcome! I use the Ximian icons in my apps. They look great.

Yes, Ximian has a very nice desktop.  You can tell they put
a lot of care into the GUIs they built.  Little MAC like, but
someone told me they like to rip Mac off; so doesn't suprise
me.  Thanks again for the pointer.  Other links I came across
was here:

http://www.buzzard.org.uk/jonathan/kde-icons.html

I think Ximian is the best icons though.  Thanks again.
