Refresh / repaint Problems AFTER Installing JRE

Thread view:
Craig - 31 Dec 2003 17:12 GMT
I've installed the Java Runtime Environment (JRE™) version 1.4.2_03,
including the Java Plug-in component for running Java applets, but
after I access a web site that utilizes/requires JAVA, the icon images
(e.g. - the Start button; the 3 upper right buttons in any window
(minimize, restore/maximize, close)) are all "wacked-out".

There's no problem when I first boot my PC (running Windows 98) -- the
problem only occurs AFTER I access a web site that utilizes/requires
JAVA.

I've tried both the manual and automatic installations methods, first
removing previous installs before reinstalling, but still the same
problem.

Is this the same problem as other post descibing "repaint" problems?

Craig

I have the same problem - I posted it some time ago on
comp.lang.java.help, but no replies yet.  Java2 1_3_1_09 works fine
but Java2 1_4_2_x is a problem. It also causes my system to slow down
-- frequent "black" screens while it thinks!

I'll keep watching your thread

Installed on what? Doesn't that have a wicked and clandestine Java
execution/hinderance environment?
