Hi

I've recently installed linux (mandrake) on my computer and noticed that
the java package which comes with it isn't the one that sun offer.  its
kaffe.
I plan on removing this package and installing sun's.  I just wanted to
know, will the  latest
J2EE version (1.4) run on my linux mandrake system.  the sun site says that
its for red hat linux, so I'm thinking I can't install it on my pc as I've
got mandrake.
Then again, if it is supported by red hat, maybe this implies mandrake as
well.

THanks.

The latest J2SE will work fine equally on any linux distribution, as it is a
reference library, it has no dependencies. I believe they simply list Red Hat
Linux as a system as it is the most popular flavour of linux. It will work on
any version of Linux as far as I'm aware.

I'm using it on Slackware 9.0 using a 2.6 kernel, and no issues.

What does this all have to do with Java GUI programming?

Replace it. And in the future select an newsgroup where your questions
are on-topic.
