JacORB through a firewall

We sell a client server system and now offer a JavaBean client which
utilises JacORB, and works very well. However, we now have a
requirement to run the client remotely via a dial-up link, which is
the other side of a firewall. We have configured the firewall to
allow CORBA messages, but following the initial connection, we see the
client trying to use the server's internal IP address, which of course
is not available outside the firewall.

After checking the JacORB documentation, I tried to use the
"jacorb.ior_proxy_host" property, but that didn't solve it.

Has anyone had this same problem and managed to get it working ?

This is actually the one property that could have saved you
here. Can you provide more details on what is going wrong?

In the general case, the only solution is a full-fledged IIOP
proxy that can handle firewall traversal including nasty
details such as Network Address Translation (NAT), Callbacks,
dynamic port assignments etc.

If you are interested in an ORB vendor-neutral and high-
performance IIOP firewall, let me know. (Actually, Xtradyne's
"IIOP DBC" is the only such product on the market).
