I need to read text from a file and to scroll it horizontally on the whole
screen without flickering.
Pherhaps with opengl or java3d?

Has anyone an idea?

Sounds like Program overkill to me...
Why is the 2D Version flickering...?

Java3D has some classes for Basic text outputs, don't know if they are
capable to fullfill your requirements.
