Will J3D work for me?

Hello,
I want to create a simple display that will read data from an
external source and show update of an obects position in 3d.   For
example, read a file containing (x,y,z) values and show a particles
movement.  I have looked through several examples and looked at
animation using Interpolators, but they always show things moving
along the X axis and never seem to discuss external data, always the
idea of movement along a predefined path.  (Note:  I am used to
gl/OpenGL concepts with double buffering, etc. for animation.)  If
anyone can point me towards an example I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you

FastScript3d has very simple instructions and steps to build 3D applets
that show objects and updates their positions using external data, and
it works in conjunction with Java3D.  You can use the
FastScript3D API, and, once you become more familiarized with everything, the
FastScript3D free source code should give you a good example basis if you want
to implement everything directly in Java3D.

See this web site for more information

BTW FastScript3D is free and the site includes examples and source code.

I would like to see this except the site seems to be down (for the past
several days).

Johathan,
I am getting many emails today about the server being down;
I've contacted the supporting S.A. and hope to have the site
up as usual ASAP!
