The Project Looking Glass? Jonathan Swartz's demo sure looked cool.

For me it  just looks cool, but doesn't add any real value to windowed
desktop OS. Is there anything useful in seeing the reverse side of
application's window or rotating the movie window in 3d? Besides, probably

It uses the OpenGL accelleration on you GFX hardware so its using
resources that are otherwise unused during normal desktop usage.

That said, I agree that I can't see a lot of point to it.
